La Luna apartment is located in the ancient district of San Salvi, just outside the historic center of Florence. San Salvi is part of the residential urban area called "Campo di Marte - Coverciano" and is well known mainly for the ancient Church of San Michele, for the Cenacolo by Andrea del Sarto and for the old Hospital, today completely reconverted to residential use and public offices.

 

The apartment is easily accessible both for those arriving in Florence by car (recommended the "Firenze Sud" motorway exit) and for those arriving by train. The train station of Florence Campo di Marte is, in fact, a few hundred meters far from La Luna and the distance can be walked both on foot or by bus (line n.20).

 

If you arrive by train to Santa Maria Novella Station you can reach the apartment either by bus (line n.6) or by taxi. This second option is definitely more convenient if you are traveling with heavy luggage.

 

Those arriving by plane at the Amerigo Vespucci Airport can use the shuttle service to Santa Maria Novella Station and then take the bus. The taxi service is also available at the airport.

 

The San Salvi area is well served by restaurants, pizzerias, pastry shops, bars and supermarkets. It is also a few hundred meters away from Via Gioberti, a busy street full of shops and small boutiques where it is possible to shop at reasonable prices.

 

From the apartment, in less than half an hour, you can easily reach the heart of Florence Historic Center walking along pleasant itineraries that will slowly introduce you into the charm of one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Let the ancient streets and the Arno River banks take you to all the city's most impressive palaces, churches and famous sites you cannot miss once you are in Florence.

 

For those who do not like to walk, there are great alternatives. Public buses will take you to the City Center in 10/15 minutes while the City Sightseeing Tour will allow you to travel around the city comfortably sitting on their red double-deck buses hopping on and off wherever you want. Both public bus and City Sightseeing stops are just a few meters away from the apartment.

 

La Luna is also a great starting point to visit famous places not far from Florence. Whether you have a car or you use the public transport, you can easily reach the renowned and precious town of Fiesole (a gem of Etruscan origin), laying at the top of the homonymous hill, and enjoy its magnificent view on the Florence valley. Or you can reach the Chiantishire, known all over the world for its fine wines, and visit its castles and old wine houses. Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa and Lucca are also important historic cities that would be worth a visit if you have enough time.
